Bridal previews are crucial for the best results, this is the time the bride and her artist will get to know each other and talk in depth about your desired look and based on your appointment you van decide on what changes you want to make on your look to make it your own.
But first, I want to talk about the difference between trials and previews because both of these services are different and so is the outcome.
WHAT IS A BRIDAL TRIAL?
A Bridal Trial is the type of appointment the bride schedule to "try" the artist rather than her look, also, when you book a trial, you don't book your wedding services, you wait until after the trial to make a decision on whether the artist is right for you. Brides tend to schedule multiple "trials" with different artists leaving them confused and more often frustrated because they are spending time and money without securing her services for wedding day.
WHAT IS A BRIDAL PREVIEW?
A Bridal Preview is the hair and makeup appointment the bride schedule weeks before her wedding day. This type of appointment is when the bride secures her bridal hair and makeup for her big day as well as her preview. This is for the bride who already knows that she wants to work with this specific artist and at the time of the preview she is exclusively "previewing" her hair and makeup look rather than trying the artist. By having a preview allows the bride to strengthen the relationship with her artist so they can collaborate on the bridal hair and makeup.
As a bridal expert, I do not recommend trials because of availability issues, most artists won't book or secure your wedding date until you sign a contract and pay the retainer payment, when you have a trial, your wedding date still in the air and your artist might get booked by the time you make the decision to book her.
WHAT TO DO BEFORE YOUR BRIDAL PREVIEW APPOITMENT
First, you have to finalize on your desired bridal look and find the right inspirational pictures for your artist.
If you are having difficulty deciding on your bridal look, I highly suggest reaching out to your artist with your concerns and allow her to collaborate prior your preview.
Once you are clear with your vision for your hair and makeup look, please prepare accordingly the day before your appointment, this will allow you to experience the best results as possible or the closest ones to your wedding day.
Prep your hair and skin according to your artist's instructions.
BRIDAL PREVIEW EXPECTATIONS BY ORLANDO MAKEUP ARTIST FABIOLA MISTELSKE
Brides, please keep an open mind at the time of your preview, based on my experience, I have seen multiple times, brides build their expectations based on what they see on social media. Unfortunately, we are now getting bombarded with so many images on how a bride "should look" but you have to stop and ask yourself about you own personal preferences and your own unique beauty.
In this appointment, expect your artist to ask you several "discovery" questions that will allow your artist to get to know you better on a personal level to be able to customize your look based on YOU. Because your artist might have to make the proper adjustments after completing your look, I would suggest giving yourself plenty of time, so your artist doesn't have to rush through your services so you can experience the best service possible.
I often take 4-5 hours per bridal preview; this gives me plenty of time to ask questions and to pay attention to every single detail in your look but make sure you discuss your timeframe with your own artist.
After your bridal preview, your artist will ask you for feedback, this will allow your artist to make the proper adjustments in your look so you can look at your best on your big day. When providing your feedback, please be as detailed as possible because at the end your artist only gets one shot at this, the more you communicate the better.
Whether you schedule a bridal preview or a trial, make sure you keep a tight communication with your artist, remember, your hair and makeup team are the first vendor you will see on wedding day, they will be right there next to you and your loved ones, your team will also set the tone for your wedding morning, when choosing your artist or team, choose wisely.
